By 1913, the mine had shut down, and by 1920 the census recorded that the town’s population was just over 100 people. The town was designated a historical landmark in 1961, and in 1962 it became Bodie State Historic Park. Ghostwriter sits on Main Street in Johnstown, with a muted and modern exterior and interior.

A WORLD WHERE PEOPLE DELIGHT IN THE DETAILS.

Without their trustworthy ghosts — writers who write under someone else’s published name — many authors would never have seen their story come to print. Ghostwriters make up the secret engine powering the publishing industry. From business books to celebrity memoirs, professional ghosts are responsible for producing many of the books you see on bookshelves today. Tucked into the valley northeast of Yosemite sits Bodie, one of the most well-preserved ghost towns in the country. It boomed as a mining town beginning in the 1870s, with a population that reached more than 10,000; at one time there were reported to be more than 65 saloons in town.

It’s now part of Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, and has been impressively well-preserved over the years; some of the most notable buildings still standing are the church, school, barber shop and fire department. Another town that never truly existed, Silver City is actually a composite of historic buildings from many different mining camps. The structures were slated to be demolished, but couple Dave and Arvilla Mills went on a mission throughout the ’60s and ’70s to have them restored and moved to their current site in Silver City. The “town” is now a museum with thousands of artifacts on display in and around 20 historic buildings including a jail, post office, saloon and general store. Apparently the site is haunted, and there have been reports of eerie happenings over the years, including bottles floating in the air and a violin playing itself. Of course, that extendsto the food as well, with the majority of the menuprocured from Ohio farms.

Peter has a long history of exploring and documenting cases of hauntings that are not understood by science, but he also has been involved in cases he has exposed as obvious frauds. At first, Peter was also skeptical about the Ghost Writer. “In all my years of delving into the paranormal world, I’ve never seen an entity present itself in this fashion, but I will say that all things are possible,” Peter remarked before entering the house. Once inside, however, the feeling that he was not alone was instantaneous. He felt a vibration throughout his body that Peter claims to feel when he is in the presence of spirits. He also began to receive several names telepathically.

"UCLA has a long history of peaceful protest and we are heartbroken to report that today, some physical altercations broke out among demonstrators on Royce Quad," Mary Osako, vice chancellor of UCLA Strategic Communications said. The student protests -- some of which have turned into around-the-clock encampments -- have erupted throughout the nation following arrests and student removals at Columbia University in New York City. Students at schools including Yale University, New York University, Harvard University, University of Texas at Austin, University of Southern California and more have launched protests. In 1908, four Black men purchased 20 acres of land along the Santa Fe Railway at a stop called Solita, and formed the first town in California to be founded, financed and governed by a Black population. By 1904, the town had a schoolhouse and was California’s first African American school district. It also became a judicial district, and was home to a Baptist church, a hotel and a library.

The Blankemeyers are risk-takers, and their future plans are bold. They plan to eventually use hardwood offcuts from their furniture manufacturing to fuel the restaurant’s grill works, for a true zero- waste manufacturing process. They also plan to create a sustainable farm on the land surrounding the manufacturing plant, growing their own vegetables and fruit trees, even livestock, eventually making the restaurant farm-to-table. It’s a perfect plan to grow their passion for hospitality. A few experiences at new (to me) restaurants that I’ve been able to visit have fallen sort of flat, and I’ve been way more into cooking at home as the temperatures start to drop. I just really missed the enthusiasm and passion that I normally experience at restaurants here in Columbus.

We’ve only made one visit to Ghostwriter so far, but it was enough to convince us to return. Like much of the public, I was saddened when I first thought – wrongfully – that their closure was permanent. I’m happy to see they’re still kicking, and I hope many folks will discover them for brunch… okay, yes, and for other meals. The chorizo hash uses those same Copia eggs and blends them with a house-made chorizo, kennebec and sweet potatoes, caramelized onions, cheese curds, and a ghost chili hot sauce. Ghostwriter Public House was everything I was hoping it would be (and more!) as I made the snowy/rainy commute to Johnstown last Monday evening. Ghostwriter’s sandwiches offer great value and large portions.

They had not showed this list to anyone, especially Peter James, and yet Peter had correctly named Gilbert, Robert, and Amelia — three of the names on the list. Peter did not think that any of these three people were the Ghost Writer.

Ghostwriter celebrates this contrast, blending appreciation for Johnstown’s historic elements while also bringing new life to its downtown. Hollywood is a family-friendly area today, our tour of LA’s Ghosts continues in this vein. We welcome people of all ages on the tour and offer entertainment and history for everyone. Our stories are scary, but we aim just short of terrifying, leaving most of the gore and guts to the imagination.

After the field investigation, Edson Williams brought many of the photographs back to the Brooks Institute for analysis. Using a digital scanner, he was able to move in on the ghost writing and noticed that there appeared to be individual fibers in the text. He concluded that the writing might have been created using pulled strands of cotton.

Our youngest never turns down a fried chicken sandwich (just like his old man), so he tried a non-spicy version of the spicy chicken sandwich. It’s typically made with a Nashville-style chile oil, special sauce, shaved lettuce, pickles, and served with fries. The decor marries the homey-ness of a pub with clean, modern touches. Over the bar sits a giant screen that doubles as a piece of art. Their cocktail menu is straightforward, with a handful of seasonal specials.

Visit the most historic haunts and drinking hotspots in Tinseltown. They are often one in the same, and filled with both dejected, and delicious, spirits. The University of Southern California closed its main campus Saturday evening "due to a disturbance," the university said on X.
